英语演讲角（第46期）| 没有人是一座孤岛

英国著名诗人约翰·多恩曾说过：“没有谁是一座孤岛，在大海里独踞；每个人都像一块小小的泥土，连接成整个陆地。”人是社会中的人，是集体中的人，在成长的道路上，我们有家人、朋友、同学和老师的陪伴，生活因为有了与他人千丝万缕的联系而变得更加经常。

2020年11月25日，我校品牌外语活动——英语演讲角（speakers’ corner） 在孔子广场举行。本期的主题为“No One is an Island （没有人是一座孤岛）。来自高二（1）班的杜妮蔚，高二（2）班的杨天一、何映呈和高二（15）班的惠雨彤参加了此次演讲。他们各抒己见，从不同角度入手，阐释了自己对本期演讲主题的认识。

下面是精彩演讲片段：

In order to take care of the patients，the medical staff rushed around in the ward all day. And they had to leave their home voluntarily because they wanted to bring more care to the patients who were suffering from the disease so that they could feel that they were not alone when they fighted against the virus.

为了照顾病人，医务人员整天在病房里跑来跑去。他们自愿离开他们的家，因为他们想给饱受疾病折磨的患者带来更多的关爱。让他们在对抗病毒的时候，能感觉到他们并不孤单。

As a human being, we are united through various ways, such as schools, family and society. There are farmers, teachers and actors and so on. Everyone plays an important role in this big circle. Moreover, the importance of each one of us cannot be ignored. Without them, the world couldn't exist for such a long time.

作为人类我们总是以各种各样的方式彼此连结着，比如学校、家庭、社会。我们之中有农民，有老师，有演员等。在这个大圈子里，每个人都扮演着重要的角色。 此外，我们每个人的重要性都不容忽视。 没有他们，世界就不可能存在这么长时间。

No one can ever live without the company of others. In this world, the only thing we have is just the connections we make with others. No matter where you are and what language you speak, we all live on the same planet and no one is far from this world.

没有别人的陪伴，任何人都无法生存。 在这个世界上，我们唯一拥有的就是与他人建立的联系。 无论你身在何处，说什么语言，我们都生活在同一个星球上，没有人会被这个世界孤立。

They are a mirror for me, leading me to self-reflection; they can read my mind, knowing everything before I say a word. Maybe we seem to be scattered islands, but at heart, we are always a connected continent.”

他们是一面镜子，促我反思；他们能读懂我的心思，洞察一切。我们看似一个个飘零的孤岛，却是一片难以分割的大陆。
